Join the TVARC Ragchew
Net – An Informal Conversation Network for Hams
Catch up with fellow amateur radio operators in a relaxed and welcoming
setting on the Ragchew Net! Whether
you’re new to ham radio or a seasoned operator, all are welcome to join
the conversation.
The Net meets every Monday evening at 7:00 PM, hosted by the Net
Control Station (NCS). The NCS begins by taking check-ins—just provide your
call sign and name to get on the list.
Don’t have access to a radio? No problem! You can still join using the EchoLink
app, which allows you to participate via your computer or mobile device
over the internet.
How It Works
All participants communicate through the K4VRC Repeater:
- Frequency: 443.225 MHz
- Mode: Duplex
- PL Tone: 103.5 Hz
Hams connecting to the repeater through EchoLink are automatically
checked in, so no need to formally check in—just listen and join the
conversation when acknowledged by the NCS.
Once check-ins are complete (or underway), the NCS will invite a TVARC
club officer to share updates and announcements. Afterward, the NCS will go down the list of
stations, inviting each to share informal comments, stories, or anything else
you’d like to talk about (feel free to just listen if you prefer). Some Net
Control stations also use the NetLogger
program, which displays a real-time list of check-ins and basic information
about each participant.
Running Late? No Worries!
You can check in at any time after 7:00 PM and before the net
concludes. The NCS will pause regularly to invite additional check-ins, so just
jump in with your name and call sign when you’re ready.
Whether you’re joining to chat, catch up, or simply listen, the Ragchew Net is all about fun, friendship, and informal
ham radio conversation. Hope to hear you on the air soon!
